Let’s face it. At some point in the summer, Philadelphia is HOT. (We could be at that point now, actually.) Most Philadelphians know about the Shore beaches and the 70+ public pools or spray grounds in the city, but many overlook the swimming lakes close by. If you’re looking for a new summer oasis, here’s a list of swimming lakes within a 90-minute drive that you can visit to escape the city heat.
UPDATE JUNE 2021: Due to Covid-19 restrictions, opening back up is a slow roll. Please be sure to call or visit the lake’s website before you pack your sunscreen and beach towels!

Lake Wallenpaupack in Hawley, PA - 2.75hr drive: a freshwater lake in northeastern Pennsylvania with 52 miles of shoreline
