Kathleen: Charleston to Philly

Kathleen’s journey toward home ownership was a quick and spirited one. The Philly Home Girls were first introduced to Kathleen by her fabulous Mother, Dolores who found us online and knowingly decided a team of strong independent women were the right people to focus Kathleen’s home search. We were up for the challenge, of course, and used every moment of Kathleen’s limited time wisely.

Nine year later the time has come where Kathleen is moving on, and her stunning condo in Old City is listed and ready for you to call home. We sat down to chat about some of her very favorite things about 112 North 2nd Street, Unit 5F1 and why condo living is the bees knees.

When you moved from Charleston to Philly, what made you buy vs. rent?

I knew I was going to live in Philadelphia for at least a few years, so I preferred to buy a home vs renting. I also felt comfortable buying in Old City because it’s a location with historical significance and plenty of safeguards to ensure that it will continue to be a beautiful location in the city and retain its value.

What do you love about condo living?

Everything is maintained for me which gives me more time to do the things I enjoy doing like spending time with my family and close friends.

What about this home makes your life easier?

I couldn’t ask for a better location than Old City. Everything I need is within walking distance from my home but whenever I do need my car, there’s no shoveling snow and no walking in the rain because my car is right downstairs in the secure parking garage. I had looked at other places to live that only offered street parking but the last thing I wanted to do was drive around the block 5 times to find a parking space at night or try to remember where I parked 3 days ago.

What is the fav feature of your home?

I love the industrial-style windows, concrete ceilings, and the open layout. It’s a great space for having friends and family over or heading out to a great restaurant in Old City.

What made you choose Philly Home Girls?

I worked with Jeanne Whipple, the owner of Philly Home Girls, when I purchased my condo in 2012 and she’s been a dear and trusted friend ever since then. I also consider Jeanne to be an amazing role model for her leadership in the Philadelphia real estate market. She’s built an amazing team and when it came time to put my condo on the market, I went straight to PHG.

Anything else you want us to know about your home or neighborhood?

The next owner of this home will have front row access to the “Semiquin” (Semiquincentennial) celebrations taking place in Old City in 2026 for the 250th anniversary of the United States. There will be no better place to celebrate than in Old City.
